Set in ancient China, a thousand years ago, this theatrical comedy discusses immigration, and ensuing conflicts of cultural identity. The story unfolds with a group of villagers living at the border of two countries. The love affair between a border soldier of a neighboring country and a local widow triggered the following events of how her relatives, neighbors and pursuer reacted. Envying the better life in the neighboring country, the locals went crazy into immigration mania, but soon found themselves in a dilemma of cultural identity, especially after a war started between the countries. First written and performed in 2013, the comedy gained extreme popularity in China. Windmill Drama Club will be the first group to stage the show in US.
The play is performed in Mandarin Chinese, with English synopsis provided.
